Guiding the Mars Millennium Project are the
U.S. Department of Education, the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration and its Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the National Endowment
for the Arts, and the J. Paul Getty Trust. A host of public and
private organizations along with some of the nation's leading corporations
and businesses will also take part, making this project a true "community"
effort.
PICTURE THE FUTURE
Imagine creating a village for 100 transplanted earthlings on Mars
in the year 2030. This national Mars Millennium Project will inspire
debate, in-depth research and the quest for new ideas revolving
around the White House Millennium Council's central theme, "Honor
the Past - Imagine the Future." Throughout the course of the project,
students will pose questions and find solutions to important issues
that affect our lives now and for generations to come.
JOIN THE EXCITEMENT
Here's a once-in-a-millennium opportunity to help get kids thinking
about what makes their own community work - and what doesn't - as
they create a living environment from the ground up. Imagine your
role in this unique event. For information on how you can become
