The NASA Learning Technologies Channel Presents. . .
"Surviving
& Thriving on Mars" Webcast Archive
On Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999 David Seidel and Dr. Robert Anderson
of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Drs. Chris McKay and
Kelly Snook of NASA Ames Research Center provided an active,
insightful look into the 'trials and tribulations' of life in
a potential community on Mars.
What is Mars like now in 1999?
Why are we so interested in Mars?
What are the current missions planned for Mars?
When and how will humans explore Mars? What might they do there?
Visit the Learning
Technologies Channel and view the entire one hour webcast
archive.
NASA
Quest brings you online activities and the chance to
interact with Mars experts. Take a look at upcoming events and
archives of previous ones.
Space
Scientists Online - Live events with NASA space scientists,
including experts on Mars, and scientists' biographies and field
journals (coming in December). Check out the schedule of upcoming
chats.
Also visit:
Space
Team Online - Learn about the International Space Station,
the Space Shuttle, and living and working in space and join
the men and women who make the space shuttle fly and learn about
their diverse and exciting careers. Curriculum supplements about
flying rockets and microgravity experiments are available to
help teachers incorporate the lessons of the shuttle into their
classrooms.
Mars
Team Online - Although no longer active, this site has
lots of information about the Mars Pathfinder and Mars Global
Surveyor missions with archived chats, scientist and engineer
biographies and journals, and educational resources. The "Live
From Mars" Teacher's
Guide, which was prepared prior to the Mars Pathfinder landing,
contains many fine activities.
